What is Carboxytherapy?

As we get older, natural collagen and elastin production begins to decrease and blood circulation to the dermis is reduced. This results in loose skin, fine lines and wrinkles to name a few. Carboxytherapy works by injecting natural carbon dioxide gas under the skin to trick the body into thinking more oxygen is needed.

When the body believes more oxygen is needed, your body’s natural restorative process is stimulated and more blood flow is sent to the skin to increase collagen and cellular growth. Carboxytherapy not only firms the skin, but has also been clinically proven to destroy fat cells whilst giving you a renewed look and feel to your skin.

Carboxytherapy FAQ’s

  • Carboxytherapy treatments can be performed on the face and body and target a number of different skin concerns. It is ideally suited to treat stretch marks, cellulite, localised areas of stubborn fat, smoothing wrinkles and reducing the appearance of dark circles. The most popular areas for treatment involve the abdomen, face, neck, arms, thighs, and bottom but are not limited to these areas.
  • Since carbon dioxide is a natural gas found within the body, there are no allergic or adverse reactions. We only use specifically refined medical grade carbon dioxide and has been used therapeutically by the medical community for over 50 years. The gas is injected through a very tiny needle beneath the surface of the skin and can be delivered warmed or cooled to minimise discomfort.
  • Most patients will notice some improvement after their first treatment, however, it usually takes about one month to see the best results. We do suggest patients have between 4-12 sessions to obtain the best results which last longer. The number of sessions does also depend on the area being treated and your personal goals.
  • As with any injectable treatment, there is a chance for some minor swelling, bruising or tenderness around the targeted area. This will fade several days after your treatment. Depending on the location of your procedure will also define aftercare and recovery times but we would recommend an antihistamine or cool compress to reduce any discomfort straight after your session.
