Bruxism

Subconscious excessive teeth grinding, or bruxism that can cause you discomfort can be treated at Dr Victoria Clinic. Bruxism can occur when you’re awake or asleep so you may not even be aware of the disorder. However, some people can suffer from jaw disorders, severe headaches and damaged teeth if left untreated.

What causes Bruxism ?

Bruxism is a subconscious condition which causes people to clench or grind their teeth when you’re awake or asleep. Although doctors still are unsure of the exact causes, it may be a combination of physical or psychological factors. Awake bruxism may be the result of stress, anxiety or tension. Whereas sleep bruxism could be the result of sleep-related chewing activities and arousals.

Do you suffer from the following?

How can we treat Bruxism ?

New treatments for bruxism within the aesthetics industry have created alternative solutions to deal with the effects of grinding teeth in sleep and jaw clenching. At the Dr Victoria Clinic, we provide bruxism treatment containing Botox to relax the muscle (masseter muscle) enough to stop involuntary teeth grinding. This treatment plan means symptoms are reduced for three to four months at a time and do not affect voluntary movements like chewing and facial expressions.
