Acne and Acne Scars Treatment

Acne is a chronic inflammatory disease of the sebaceous hair follicles. Each follicle contains tiny hair and multiple sebaceous glands. Acne occurs when the skin produces an excessive amount of oil or the oil-producing glands are blocked (resulting in blackheads). Acne can also be caused by a bacterium, Propionobacterium acnes (P. acnes) which causes inflammation in the blocked glands. Acne cannot be caught from other people and some people are more prone than others. It can also be influenced by factors such as genes, hormones, pollution, and diet. It is common to develop acne on those areas of the skin with lots of sebaceous glands, such as the face, scalp, neck, chest, back, upper arms and shoulders.
